Spiced Honey, a Captivating Warm Amber Tone Has Been Chosen as ‘Colour Of The Year’ 2019
It’s that time of the year again when AkzoNobel’s team of sociologists and colour experts cast the die and denote a particular colour shade as the ‘Colour of The Year’. Each year the chosen colour is determined based on the global mood of the moment – it’s believed that the shade that’s selected will characterise the upcoming year and resonate with both interior designers and the general population alike.
And this year’s designated shade…? The result is in and, according to the colour aficionados at AkzoNobel, last year “many of us were left unsettled by global events, so we closed our doors to retreat and regroup. Now we feel ready to throw everything open and face the world again”.
As a result, the muli-national paint and coatings specialists have named ‘Spiced Honey’ as the colour the year – a shade that they believe reflects a “renewed sense of energy, optimism and purpose”.
Described as a ‘warm amber’ tone, Spiced Honey now looks set to become a widely popular hue throughout homes and workplaces. The trending shade will, no doubt, also become a go-to colour choice for interior decorators working within the hospitality sector – don’t be surprised if your local pub or restaurant is redecorated with a fresh splash of Spiced Honey over the coming months!
Creative director and interiors colour expert at AkzoNobel, Heleen van Gent, describes Spiced Honey as “sophisticated, warm and elegant”. She also emphasises its versatility, explaining that the hue can be calming, grounding or energising depending on the combination of colours or accents that it’s paired with.
